1973, Ede. ~ The very first photo i took was of my little naughty dog Rakker ~
When I was 15 years old, I got my first photo camera, an Agfa device with bellows for 6 × 6 roll film. For every shot you had to tighten the shutter first. It was 1973, and I have never stopped photographing since then. As a typical non-glossy photographer, I like to shoot my autonomous photos in existing light and freehand. Photography to me means emotion, imagination, giving memories a place and searching for another, more beautiful world.
I worked about 13 years as a photojournalist, photo-editor-in chief and columnist for the Amsterdam monthly magazine MUG. Looking for more freedom I photographed and wrote for various newspapers and magazines.
Unfortunately, I suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury in 2017 after visiting a chiropractor. It had a huge impact on my life and made working more difficult. But I still can take pictures 🙂
